The Blog - Vivre ma France
Here it is, my life in France. We did it, my husband and I. We moved to latitude 43.61 and longitude 3.87, in the sud de la France, Occitanie or to be more specific, Montpellier. An area known for 300 days of sunshine, beautiful beaches, style & panache. The warmer weather of southern France has been calling our name for years now and we finally accepted the call. For those of you who do not already know me, I am a gregarious event planner and a foodie. It’s a wonderfully fun combination for life. This blog will be about my work and our lives, but also the interesting things I see and experience. It will also be a discussion on life’s social aspects, with an eye on entertaining and event planning.
Join me on-site and in real-time, as I create weddings and private affairs. I will show you a few quick tips to top-up your game and achieve success in the home, a restaurant or abroad. I live in wine country and together we will go directly to vineyards to see how things are made. Learn how to select a menu for your home and pair it with wine. I will also cover fine dining, so you can experience it will me and this will include restaurant reviews. Follow me as I review restaurants, cities and places I have traveled to and will present a top list of restaurants each year. You can also follow my online recommendations as VivreMaFrance at Trip Advisor.com.
We are also in the process of buying a house. This will also be some of the things I will cover. From searching, finding and purchasing a home in France including working with a lawyer and notary. We will also discuss renovations including the the design and decor of the house and land. Currently the plan is to open an event space, Bed and Breakfast aka Gîtes de France (vacation house rentals) but like most things in life the plan is organic and is changing every day.
I am excited about this new stage in my life. I have lived my entire life in Canada, and am very grateful for that privilege, but now it is time for something new and something different. Time to strike a few more things off my bucket list. I am over 50, happy and looking forward. Please join me on this adventure of a lifetime.

While the title of my blog is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, the reality is that red wine is healthy because it is made from grapes, which are filled with natural resveratrol and antioxidants. Both are great for your body and skin, but also encourage cell growth, improvement of your heart health and may help prevent coronary artery…Lire plus
Wild mushrooms, otherwise known in French as champignon sauvages have been collected for well over 10,000 years in Europe. One of many splendid things about France is the abundance of mushrooms in the wild. Autumn is the best season to pick mushrooms but you can find various types of mushrooms any time between April and…Lire plus
Recently, I had the pleasure to tour Château de Versailles with a dear friend, Kirsti who was visiting from Canada. We had a superb time and discovered that the history of the Palace of Versailles is not as old as some of the other royal palaces, but it definitely has lots of drama. It was…Lire plus
Is a well-known expression that means dinner is on the table ready to eat, and while it might not be such a catchy saying anymore, soup remains a favourite at the table. A lot of my favourite recipes are actually for soup. Mostly because it doesn’t take a diploma in cooking to make soup and it…Lire plus
Four years ago on a visit to France with good friends, we set out on a trek to find works of famed modernist architect and painter, Le Corbusier. We had an exciting time looking for his buildings and discovering the art behind one of the most important architects of the 20th century, and we even…Lire plus
Continuing my series on the best wedding venues in the Occitanie region, my next fabulous place is Domaine de Verchant. Located just on the outskirts of Montpellier, Domaine de Verchant is a Hotel, a Spa, a Winery and an event space for milestone events like weddings or anniversaries. In 1582, Pierre Verchant was given an…Lire plus
The sight of anything citrus puts me in a good mood. A bright lemon yellow kitchen, an enticing bowl of oranges or a gorgeous lime topiary in a French jardin. It all makes me smile. I have fond memories of eating deliciously sweet and fragrant mandarins during the holidays. On winter mornings, in my youth,…Lire plus
The smell of the beach naturally soothes many of us. It’s been proven in studies that show it relieves stress and relaxes the mind. It is also one of the reasons we moved to Montpellier. Indeed with over 300+ days of sunshine, the beaches here are huge draws in the area. The beach is only…Lire plus
Recently we were able to fulfill a lifelong dream of my husband of visiting a Scandinavian country, which he had decided to do for his 50th birthday. He had the good fortune of flying to Paris, when he discovered that his seatmates were a lovely couple from Norway. This country has always been on our…Lire plus
